Ward Meeks

Gold Hill visionary Ward Meeks with wife Jeri.  Between 1962 and 1975 Meeks developed the first 29 homesites in Gold Hill.  In addition to installing water, power, wastewater, and internal roads for the community, Meeks built a mile of road from the Crystal Mountain valley to Gold Hill and installed two bridges.

The first home in Gold Hill, designed and built by Meeks, was featured in LIFE magazine “Great Homes” series.

An accomplished pilot, Meeks commuted from his trucking business in Seattle to Gold Hill by helicopter.
